What are you going to do?
As a Customs Specialist, you’ll join a dedicated and diverse team focused on excellence in customs compliance. Your role is crucial in managing customs processes, ensuring adherence to regulations, and collaborating with various departments. You’ll be responsible for customs declarations, product classification, and maintaining the Export Controls Framework. Your proactive approach will help identify customs-related risks and drive improvements.
While your primary focus will be on customs, you’ll also support financial operations, gaining valuable experience in financial reporting and transactions. This dual responsibility will allow you to grow your financial knowledge while becoming an expert in customs management.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Handle daily customs activities, including product classification and monthly customs declarations;
- Maintain the Export Controls Framework and ensure compliance with Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) standards;
- Analyse, verify, and process customs-related financial data across multiple ERP systems;
- Identify and mitigate customs-related financial risks, advising on best practices and improvements;
- Collaborate with financial teams to prepare accurate reports and support strategic decision-making.
- Advise in potential improvements in customs processes, both proactively and upon request.

You should be committed to staying updated on customs regulations and financial practices.
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, International Trade);
- Minimum 3 years related working experience, with a focus on customs and/or accounting;
- Knowledge of customs regulations, VAT, and AEO standards, with a willingness to learn financial aspects;
- Proficiency in MS Office and some knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle, Exact, SAP)
- The following (mindset) qualities apply to you: persistent, assertive attitude, analytical, & problem-solving oriented;
- Strong language skills, fluent in both spoken and written Dutch.
Applicants must currently reside in the Netherlands and possess eligibility to work in the country, including having a valid work permit or passport.
Work location:
Your regular workplace is Almere, but this position allows for hybrid working (20% home/80% office).
