As our Service Project Engineer, you will be part of the Commercial Marine department, playing a crucial role in enhancing customer satisfaction by commissioning and addressing technical concerns and warranty claims on a global scale. You will collaborate with stakeholders across markets, assess service requirements, and provide expert guidance to ensure optimal support delivery.
What are you going to do?
As our next Service Project Engineer, you will be involved from the start-up phase, supporting our commissioning efforts and acting as the primary point of contact for all our clients, including distributors and shipbuilders. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and leading implementation processes, managing warranty issues, and ensuring client satisfaction. As our business expands, we aim to strengthen our (After) Sales & Engineering team to effectively meet the evolving needs of our clients.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Commissioning support: Lead internal and external processes to ensure successful implementations.
- Warranty management: Assess and execute warranty claims and activities, creating thorough reports.
- Technical support: Provide expert guidance to customers and projects under departmental guidelines; troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve malfunctions; advise on maintenance.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of project activities, technical issues, and resolutions to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Product improvements: Advise and implement product and service enhancements based on practical insights.
- Testing: Execute field testing and campaigns when required.
- Project management: Ensure projects are carried out safely, in the agreed manner, and with high quality within the agreed budget and timeframe.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal Service Project Engineer has extensive experience in medium-speed engine, machinery auxiliary systems maintenance and vessel operation, either through work experience or education. You have a proven track record of effectively managing technical issues and providing solutions. Your expertise includes combustion engines as propulsion and generator sets, with a deep understanding of their intricacies. Additionally, you are proficient in electrical combustion, electrical systems, and alarm monitoring systems.
The ideal candidate:
- Minimum MBO 4, or equivalent, in technical studies (Maritime engineering, Naval engineering);
- At least 2 years of experience in field technical roles;
- Strong understanding of ship engineering, electrical combustion, and electrical systems;
- Solid knowledge of electronic diagnostics;
- The following mindset applies to you: self-starting, solution-driven and flexible;
- Open to travel;
- You have strong communication skills, and you’re empathic.
- Strong language skills, fluent in both spoken and written English.
Applicants must currently reside in the Netherlands and possess eligibility to work in the country, including having a valid work permit or passport.
Work location:
Your permanent workplace is Almere. But frequent travels globally are required for this role. When working from the office, we offer a hybrid working scheme (60% office, 40% home)
