New graduates from PrO Almere celebrated at Yanmar

Once again, we are proud to conclude a successful academic year in collaboration with Praktijkonderwijs (PrO) Almere. This year, 100 students received certificates recognizing their achievements during their work placements at Yanmar. The milestone was marked with a festive gathering, where all students received their certificates in the presence of proud teachers, mentors, and family members.

A longstanding, strong partnership

Since 2015 we offer meaningful work experiences to pupils from Pro Almere, a practical secondary school for students with learning difficulties. When the students are in their third year, they start to gain work experience with local businesses, helping them build vital life and workplace skills such as punctuality, teamwork, and the ability to follow instructions in a professional setting.

A safe start in logistics at Yanmar

At Yanmar, the students are welcomed into a specially established Repack Department designed to provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. Each day, six to eight pupils work under the supervision of two school coaches. In close cooperation with Yanmar’s regular staff, the pupils follow company procedures and learn to meet operational standards. They rotate through areas such as incoming and outgoing goods, checking, Kardex operations, and order picking. This hands-on experience enhances their understanding of warehouse logistics while fostering a sense of responsibility, attention to details and the ability to work within a team-oriented environment.

Real feedback, real growth

At the end of their placement, students complete a feedback survey, with results consistently ranging from positive to very positive. Earning a certificate is a significant accomplishment for the students, providing motivation and a tangible recognition of their efforts. This achievement serves as a stepping stone toward future internships or paid employment.

This year, five students received an additional certificate for outstanding contributions, including assisting with work preparation and operating the cardboard shredder. These extra tasks reflect not only their initiative but also their readiness for greater responsibility.

Helping potential blossom

At Yanmar, we remain committed to supporting the development of young talent in our community true to the spirit of Hanasaka helping people and potential blossom. We look forward to welcoming a new group of PrO Almere students next school year.
