This annual recognition honours the Yanmar distributor that has delivered the strongest contribution to the CIMS Project Parts Program, designed to increase the use of genuine Yanmar spare parts on Yanmar engines, ensuring improved performance, reliability, and longer engine lifetime. The program focuses on strengthening collaboration with distributors while increasing engagement and parts uptake.

Addressing the Challenge

As a distributor of Yanmar commercial marine engines, it provides mechanical support, genuine spare parts, and new engines for Yanmar Europe. The company also specialises in the repair of main marine engines and auxiliary diesel engines, supporting vessel operators across the region. Navalcantieri Italia identified that several vessels in its installed base were operating with non-genuine parts, resulting in a low parts-capture rate. Improving this was essential to achieve optimal engine performance, reliability, and long-term customer value.

Structured Strategy for Higher Parts Capture

Based on the CIMS database, Yanmar created a tailored list of vessels in Navalcantieri’s installed base. The list identified opportunities to increase the use of genuine Yanmar parts. Navalcantieri followed up on these opportunities and approached customers in a more effective way. They addressed the use of non-genuine parts with tailored service and parts proposals. This focused approach led to a significant increase in the parts capture rate. It also strengthened customer relationships and raised awareness of the benefits of genuine Yanmar parts, including reliability, performance, and lower lifecycle costs.
