Yanmar brings football to the Japan Festival
On Sunday, June 28, Yanmar once again joined the annual Japan Festival in Amstelveen. As a long standing sponsor, we support the event, which brings Japanese and Dutch communities together through culture, entertainment and shared experiences.
This year, the festival moved from Stadsplein to Handelsplein due to renovation work at its usual location. The new venue hosted a sunny and well-attended day filled with Japanese music, food, performances and activities.
Football takes centre stage
With the FIFA World Cup in full swing and Yanmar’s recent acquisition of Almere City FC, football was the ideal theme for our presence at this year’s festival. The timing was especially fitting, as both Japan and the Netherlands were still competing in the tournament and had drawn 2 to 2 shortly before the festival.
Visitors could test their skills in our football simulator, which quickly became one of the most popular attractions. People of all ages competed in penalty shootouts and challenged each other for the highest score.
More festival favourites
Our popular photo booth also returned, this time with a football-inspired setting and a selection of playful props. Families, friends and colleagues captured their festival moments and took home a personal souvenir of the day.
We also showcased one of our products at the festival. Visitors could explore the YT4 tractor up close. The tractor attracted plenty of attention, with many people climbing aboard or posing in and around it for photos.
A special guest from Almere
For two hours, our booth welcomed Ally de Aap, the official mascot of Almere City FC. His visit was especially popular with younger football fans and highlighted Yanmar’s connection with Almere City FC.
Visitors could also enter a competition to win an official Cerezo Osaka shirt. The club originated from Yanmar Diesel Soccer Club, founded as Yanmar’s company team in 1957. Today, Yanmar remains closely involved as a Top Partner.
Celebrating our Japanese roots
Beyond football, the Japan Festival remains an important opportunity for Yanmar to celebrate its Japanese heritage and strengthen the connection between Japan and the Netherlands. With sunny weather, many visitors and a lively atmosphere, this year’s edition was another great success. We look forward to supporting the festival again next year.
