{"id":123,"date":"2025-01-30T13:10:36","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T13:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/eu\/newsroom\/?p=123"},"modified":"2025-02-11T08:50:24","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T08:50:24","slug":"marine-conferences-hailed-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/eu\/newsroom\/marine-conferences-hailed-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Marine conferences hailed a success"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yanmar organised and participated in two engaging seminars in December, focusing on technology development towards alternative fuels for marine engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first seminar, held on December 3 at the<strong> Athenaeum InterContinental in Athens, Greece<\/strong>, focused on the role of alternative fuels in tackling carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"2160\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 3840 \/ 2160;\" width=\"3840\" autoplay controls loop muted src=\"http:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/eu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2025\/01\/Yanmar-Seminar-One-minute-Version-Video-4K-1.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After a brief company introduction, George Dimopoulos, Associate Professor, NTUA, and Scientific advisor at DNV presented \u201cShip energy efficiency and decarbonisation: The role of the engine and its systems.\u201d This was followed by Bill Stamatopoulos, Verifuel Global Business Development Director at BV group with his presentation \u201cBiofuels unveiled: the best stepping stone to decarbonisation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zigor Uriondo Arrue, a Professor at the University of Bilbao concluded the line-up with \u201cPossible Future Fuels, One Size Does Not Fit All.\u201d Yanmar finished the day with a few words about the new version of service support tool Shipsweb, which is now free to use. Yanmar has also come to introduce its machines working with methanol, hydrogen and alternative fuel systems. Regulations will become very strict in the near future. Especially in May 2025, Turkey will be designated as an emission control area. All emissions and exhaust outputs will be inspected<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As well as general environmental matters, Turkey\u2019s unique place in global shipping was discussed by Ahmet Ya\u015far Canca, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tmmob Gemi\u0307mo. His presentation, \u201cRisks in Turkish Maritime,\u201d started with his observations about Yanmar engines: \u201cTheir R&amp;D department works hard to ensure that the equipment is not complex in maintenance. Even the complex ones are separated modularly and designed in such a way that people with average technical knowledge can perform maintenance, and they explain them step by step. When working with Yanmar&#8217;s generators, the ship&#8217;s personnel are very comfortable and can perform maintenance very easily.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysing the current trends in the industry he observed: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"440\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/eu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2025\/01\/yasar-canca-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-134\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/eu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2025\/01\/yasar-canca-2.jpg 440w, https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/eu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2025\/01\/yasar-canca-2-198x300.jpg 198w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A globalisation with 7 regions is coming. The Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea are among the regions of this globalisation. This gives us a strategic advantage. There are carbon regulations. When you bring a container from China, it will pay half of the fuel it burns as carbon emission tax. But when you are traveling from Turkey to Europe, it takes at most 1.5 days. If alternative energy, electric or hybrid ships can be built in Turkey, you can be the most competitive ship owner in the world with that one-day carbon emission tax<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Feedback from delegates was good, so expect to see more events like this in the future.
