The EUROMOT Small Compression Ignition (SCI) Engines sub-group has appointed Rinze van Kammen of Yanmar Europe as its new Chair. EUROMOT is the European Association of Internal Combustion Engine and Alternative Powertrain Manufacturers, an international, non-profit organisation based in Brussels, representing the interests of companies supplying the European and global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Long-standing Yanmar involvement in EUROMOT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yanmar Europe has been actively involved in EUROMOT for more than 20 years. As an active member, Yanmar Europe holds voting rights at the annual General Assembly, enabling us to formally influence EUROMOT positions and contribute to decision-making on policy priorities, governance, and industry responses to current and future EU legislation. Over the past five years, Rinze has represented Yanmar Europe in the Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) group and the Small Compression Ignition (SCI) Engines sub-group. In doing so, he works closely with his direct colleagues who collectively provide the relevant expertise and experience. In addition, other Yanmar colleagues participate in various EUROMOT sub-groups, including Material Compliance, Engine Product Safety, and Cybersecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Main challenges for SCI engines<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The SCI sub-group focuses on engines below 19 kW, a segment in which Yanmar has long-standing experience and expertise. Key topics for the group include emissions legislation, especially the review of field test data by the European Commission, which could result in stricter future emission limits and affect engine development. In addition, differing national initiatives such as Dutch Labour Inspectorate regulations for the health of employees, and Truck Refrigeration Units emissions, are creating uncertainty for the industry. Chemical substance legislation is another important focus area. As the SCI engines have limited technical options to comply with increasingly strict regulations, close cooperation within the SCI sub-group is essential to share knowledge, align approaches, and develop workable solutions for the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong commitment to the industry<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Rinze officially assumed his role as Chair of the SCI sub-group on 1 December 2025 during a meeting in Brussels. He accepted the role driven by a strong personal and professional commitment to Yanmar and its products, as well as to the industry as a whole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
