This year marks the 50th anniversary
of Yanmar’s tracked carrier.
The first of its kind, our carrier found favor
with
professional builders and was used to
transport
materials at worksites the world over.
In an expression of gratitude and respect,
we want to ease the fatigue and stress of all
the hard-working construction professionals out there.

In 1971, Yanmar launched the YFW500D, the world’s first tracked carrier, taking the first step in the history of this class of construction equipment.
The idea that sparked its development was simple: by adding a cargo box to the undercarriage of a Yanmar rubber crawler combine harvester, a common piece of agricultural equipment at the time,we realized that we would be able to transport materials on soft ground.
Though almost all construction equipment including excavators and cranes evolved through the introduction of technology from Europe and the United States, the tracked carrier was born in Japan as a Yanmar invention.
Even after sales of the YFW500D began, Yanmar continued thinking creatively in response to the needs of its customers to develop many innovative products and create the basis of what is now the carrier industry.
Going forward, we at Yanmar will continue developing unique products that exceed the expectations of construction specialists around the world.
Empowered by this passion, in 2021, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our small but big innovation, the Yanmar tracked carrier.
