Yanmar mid-range engines launched at Cannes Yachting Festival 2017
From 12-17 September, Cannes in the south of France was the luxury venue for the biggest boat show in Europe: the Cannes Yachting Festival in and around the two ports of Cannes. Yanmar was on duty too and launched the new 4LV Series of common-rail (CR) engines. Many visitors found their way to the Yanmar stand and were interested to learn more on the latest additions to Yanmar's engine range.
The new 4LV series offers a range of 5 engines with outputs from 150 to 250 mhp which harness the very latest in electronically managed CR fuel injection technology for the mid-section of Yanmar's range of clean and efficient diesels. Releasing 3 of the anticipated 5 HP versions, Yanmar introduced the 150, 170, & 195 mhp units. The engines have been specifically designed for the rigors of both sailing yachts over 50 ft, power recreational boating such as super yacht tenders and small commercial craft applications.
Clean, quiet and powerful
The new 4LV range is clean, interconnective, quiet, powerful and fuel efficient. By exceeding the strict EPA Tier 3 and EU RCD Tier 2 emission regulations, the engines feature virtually smoke and odor-free operation.
Introduction to the press
On Wednesday 13 September, Yanmar also hosted a press gathering on the stand to present the new 4LV series to the press. After the presentation, journalists were invited to join for drinks on a yacht of Steeler Yachts. Steeler displayed their NG52S yacht, equipped with 2x Yanmar 6LY440 + JC20.
Ready to compete
Floris Lettinga, Global Sales Manager at Yanmar Marine International knows that this segment of the boat propulsion market is characterized by intense competition from many players, but is ready to compete. "With our technical skills at the cutting edge of diesel engineering, Yanmar is now the only marine engine manufacturer to offer a full range of CR engines from 40 mhp right up to 440 mhp, all with low emissions, lively performance, superb fuel efficiency and renowned Yanmar reliability."
The 150, 170, & 195 mhp 4LV engines will be available as inboard models from autumn 2017. The 230 & 250 mhp inboard models and sterndrive models make their introductions in 2018.
