{"id":24984,"date":"2020-10-07T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-07T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/?p=24984"},"modified":"2024-08-20T09:25:14","modified_gmt":"2024-08-20T09:25:14","slug":"yanmar-introduces-benefits-of-saildrive-to-larger-monohulls-and-multihulls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/nouvelles\/yanmar-introduces-benefits-of-saildrive-to-larger-monohulls-and-multihulls\/","title":{"rendered":"YANMAR Introduces Benefits of Saildrive to Larger Monohulls and Multihulls"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>YANMAR has answered significant demand from the world\u2019s leading boat builders with the introduction of the SD15 saildrive solution for larger sailboats with engines from 80 HP to 150 HP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enabling the 50-to-65-foot monohull and multihull sector to access the installation and user benefits associated with saildrive systems for the first time, the new SD15 is already successfully installed on a Sunreef 50 following extensive field testing on a Kufner 54.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-narrow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-style-auto\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 30%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>The SD15 saildrive, made by ZF, can be coupled to the YANMAR 4JH80, 4JH110 and 4LV150 common rail engines, offering a new option to a vastly extended range of sailboats and catamarans using higher horsepower engines that have previously relied on conventional drive lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compact, easy and safe to install with no specific alignments required, the SD15 simplifies the production process and reduces costs for OEMs while also allowing increased design flexibility. The boat owner will experience low vibration and noise on-board, low drag, improved propulsion efficiency and fuel consumption, and excellent hydrodynamic efficiency, increasing comfort on-board for motoring while not under sail. The SD15 saildrive, which has a light aluminum casing treated to maximize corrosion resistance, is durable and reliable to ensure longer service intervals.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"827\" height=\"1192\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/ZF_SD15-HQ-BGW-edited.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24995 size-full lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/ZF_SD15-HQ-BGW-edited.jpg 827w, https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/ZF_SD15-HQ-BGW-edited-208x300.jpg 208w, https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/ZF_SD15-HQ-BGW-edited-710x1024.jpg 710w, https:\/\/www.yanmar.com\/marine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/ZF_SD15-HQ-BGW-edited-768x1107.jpg 768w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 827px) 100vw, 827px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 827px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 827\/1192;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional features of the saildrive include hydraulically actuated multi-disc clutches for smooth shifting performance and an integrated output shaft brake.
