Yanmar’s R&D for the Robot Tractor Takes “The 7th Robot Award”

Yanmar’s R&D for the Robot Tractor received the “7th Robot Award” in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister’s category. From this year, the award categories were revised with several ministries making new awards. Yanmar’s R&D for the Robot Tractor received the award in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries category. The award is for the purpose of facilitating robot technology advancements and expansion in the robotics sector, with a focus on acknowledging exceptional achievements. At this year’s awards, Yanmar’s project was awarded for its outstanding technological pursuit to meet societal needs through delivering solutions to labor shortages and issues faced by the agriculture industry. The robot was also recognized for its labor-saving, enhanced safety and for helping to pave the way to a future where fully automated robot tractors, enabled through remote operation, are a living reality.

Activities

The Robot Tractor was on display at Tokyo Big Sight, in Tokyo, Japan for Japan Robot Week 2016. As the winner, Yanmar gave a presentation to show people the technological strengths of the Robot Tractor. 2018 will see even further technological developments including continued product development towards practical applications, in addition to remote monitoring of fully autonomous robot tractors.
