YANMAR FOCUSES ON EMISSION CONTROL WITH DUAL-FUEL ENGINE AT EUROPORT 2019
October 10, 2019
Yanmar Co., Ltd.
Almere, 07 October 2019. From 5-8 November YANMAR will show their latest technology solutions to the maritime sector at Europort in the world port city of Rotterdam. Visitors find everything they want to know on the full range of commercial marine main propulsion and auxiliary engines, varying in power from 6 to 4,500 kW. Special focus will be on emission control with an innovative medium-speed, dual-fuel engine for situations that require very low emissions without compromising on power. The YANMAR stand is located at booth no. 1223.
Dual-fuel engine 6EY26DF
With the 1533kW 6EY26DF engine, YANMAR offers ship owners a medium-speed dual-fuel solution that allows them to switch to and from liquefied natural gas (LNG) and diesel during operation, even under full engine loads. Thanks to its high-precision airflow technology that optimizes combustion conditions, the 6EY26DF meets the requirements needed for reliable and stable use of two different fuel types. The dual-fuel engines are already in full operation, for example on tugboats and bunker tankers from Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd.(Japan) and Sinanju Tanker Holdings (Singapore).
Very low emissions, high output
The 6EY26DF is a typical solution for situations where very low emissions are required without sacrificing power. The engine offers fuel flexibility, advanced engine control and cleaner operation, and greater thermal efficiency in gas mode compared to current diesel engines. The most important features are:
- Switch between LNG and diesel fuel mode even under full engine loads.
- No power limitations even for LNG.
- Advanced air-fuel ratio control for stable gas mode operation.
- 84% NOx, 25% CO2, and 99% SOx and PM reductions, which meet IMO Tier 3 standards.
- Improved thermal efficiency ratios at almost 50% in gas mode.
New Area Sales Manager Central and North West Europe
YANMAR is fully committed to serving their current and future maritime customers in the Benelux. This led to the appointment of Mr. Richard Lesteluhu in early 2019. His main objective is to strengthen current relationships and to explore future activities in the Netherlands, Belgium and other Central and Northwestern European countries. He will be at Europort to meet visitors and answer questions.
YANMAR Marine diesel engine range
YANMAR marine diesel engines are used worldwide in commercial ships, e.g. ocean-going vessels, life fish carriers, fishing vessels, workboats, offshore support boats and many more.
YANMAR’s marine engine range includes three major categories:
- Medium-speed propulsion diesel engines (374 kW-4500 kW) known for their low fuel oil consumption with reduced NOx emissions and easy maintenance.
- Auxiliary medium-speed engines (80 kWe-4500 kWe) widely used for diesel generator sets for generating stable electrical power at sea and in port.
- High-speed commercial engines, compact and robust, (6 kW to 1340 kW) with high-power output and high combustion performance.
The range includes engines that comply with European emission standards and various IACS quality certifications (International Association of Classification Societies).
YANMAR works proactively with ship designers, ship owners and shipbuilders as well as with other equipment manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the optimum solution to each marine project. Our strategy is to focus, to be accurate, to show initiative and to provide the right solution for each project.
About YANMAR
