Meeting our business partners always sparks new and existing relationships in our network. In May, we joined forces with two of our marine dealers for exhibitions in Spain and Scotland, both vital markets for us brimming with potential. Two trade fairs in the same week. A power boost for business connections in a vibrant world of innovation and collaboration.

Scotland: Scottish Skipper Expo 2023

With Trevor McDonald Ltd, Yanmar Marine Commercial dealer in Scotland, we attended Scottish Skipper Expo in Aberdeen. The stand attracted many visitors eager to hear about the latest advancements in Yanmar 374 - 3310 kW medium speed engines for main and auxiliary power. There was special interest for powering service operation vessels (SOVs) in the region to support various offshore activities, such as wind farms, platforms, fish farms and other marine installations.

Full control over performance and maintenance costs

Mr. Trevor McDonald, owner of Trevor McDonald Ltd. looks back on a successful trade fair.

“We’ve been able to meet many representatives of fisheries and wind farms. Vessel owners are keen to power their vessels with Yanmar. The mechanical engines provide engineers and operators on board with full control over performance and maintenance costs.”

Scotland and beyond

Trevor McDonald has been involved in many projects with Yanmar-powered vessels over the years. In Scotland, the focus is on coastal fisheries, but also goes beyond national borders. Recently, Trevor McDonald have signed a contract with the Vard Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam for a new service operation vessel. After completion in 2024, the vessel will be deployed in the North Sea to support maintenance work at the Dogger Bank wind farm, some 130 kilometres off the north-east coast of England.

Spain: Expomar 2023

The second exhibition in that week was Expomar, which took place in the port of Burela (Lugo), on the north coast of Spain. Here, we co-exhibited with our marine dealer SKV, with whom we have so often organized trade fairs before as business partners. Our close relationship combined with SKV’s expertise has created a successful marine business throughout the Mediterranean region.

Ibon Azpeitia | Engine Sales Manager comments: Despite all difficulties that fishing industry has been facing during past years, SKV and Yanmar can say that the interest from shipowners, shipyards, and designers is still high. At the exhibition, we have generated prospects for different new to-be-built vessels and repowering projects. There is also significant interest in “green solutions” so we could present the characteristics and specifications of Yanmar SCR systems. We would like to thank all our visitors for coming. Thanks a lot for your time, confidence, and kindness. Let us meet again at the next exhibition in Spain!”

Hero Bouwman | Sales Manager YEU adds: “Spain is one of very important markets for Yanmar Europe not only due to its location but especially due to high requirements of the owners of the fishing vessels and their demand for quality. Yanmar engines are known for their high reliability, and that is exactly what they are looking for together with low fuel costs as they experience low consumption during long hours at sea.”
