Yanmar Energy System’s Dual-Fuel EY series generators are built on our robust diesel platform and can run on natural gas, biogas, or diesel fuel. The units can switch seamlessly between natural gas, purified biogas—produced by methane fermentation of sewage sludge and food waste—and diesel, thereby supporting the transition to decarbonized energy.
Biogas maintains a net-zero CO2 balance throughout purification and combustion; therefore, it is considered carbon-neutral. In addition, the engine’s renowned durability and stability enable it to adapt flexibly to varying fuel compositions, ensuring a consistent and reliable power supply.

The Dual-Fuel EY series offers two operating modes: Diesel Mode, which uses only diesel fuel, and Gas Mode, which runs mainly on natural gas or biogas. Operators can easily switch between the modes as needed.
In Gas Mode, a small pilot injection of diesel acts as the ignition source through a dedicated injector. The engine is normally started in Diesel Mode—especially for cold starts—and switched to Gas Mode once stable combustion is reached. This strategy accommodates variations in natural-gas and biogas composition, delivering stable, efficient operation.
