YEMI Annual Supplier Meet 2026 - Driving Progress through Partnership

Yanmar Engine Manufacturing India conducted its Annual Supplier Meet on 5th June 2026 with the theme “Driving Progress Through Partnership”.

The event brought together 60+ supplier partners who have played a pivotal role in establishing the Chennai engine manufacturing facility and enabling the localization journey.

The senior leadership team shared comprehensive insights on Yanmar’s global presence, long-term vision, and India’s strategic importance. The presentations covered YEMI’s ambition to become the second-largest global engine manufacturing hub after Japan, along with achievements to date, future localization plans, and the roadmap to position India as a global engine and components export hub.

Mr. Kazunori Ajiki (CEO & Chairman, YEMI and Head of Yanmar India) highlighted Yanmar’s 113-year legacy, its diverse global businesses, and the transition towards advanced technologies. He emphasized India’s role as a high-growth market and global supply hub, reinforcing the philosophy of “For India, From India” develop locally and leverage globally.

Mr. Masahiro Ito (Director Operations, YEMI) outlined the rapid scale-up of the India plant and its vision to become the second-largest manufacturing hub for Yanmar. He stressed the importance of cost competitiveness, localization, and achieving global quality standards, while highlighting the need for suppliers to compete at a global level.

Mr. Isao Toyoda (Group Divisional Manager-Procurement, Yanmar Holdings Co. Ltd.) presented the MTP 2030 vision, focusing on sustainable growth and profitability. He identified India as a key sourcing hub in Yanmar’s global procurement strategy, and emphasized increasing global competition among suppliers, along with the importance of the Global South growth strategy.

Mr. Manoj Saini (General Manger-Procurement YEMI & GPC) outlined the significant roadmap ahead, including 100% localization, new emission-related engine development, and localization of additional engine platforms in India. He also highlighted the strong plans to expand exports from India, creating substantial opportunities for suppliers. He emphasized that to participate in this growth journey, suppliers must strengthen their capabilities in quality, cost competitiveness, commitment, capacity building, risk management, and collaboration through early involvement and VA/VE initiatives.
