The YM357A tractor with rotary tiller

Bangkok, Thailand (January 29, 2019) – Yanmar has released its ground-breaking YM tractor in a grand launch ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand. Scheduled to be deployed progressively from Southeast Asia to the world, the YM is expected to form the backbone of Yanmar's tractor lineup in the region in the coming years. "With the entry of the YM into the burgeoning Southeast Asia tractor market, Yanmar is poised to deliver 21st century agriculture towards improving lifestyles and delivering value to the region's farmers." said Yanmar Agribusiness Corporation President Hiroaki Kitaoka.

YM Tractor

Yanmar's all new YM351A (Output:51 hp) and YM357A (Output:57 hp) tractors feature a host of innovations and new technology that will streamline operators' work and create new value for the regions' farmers. Many farmers in Southeast Asia cultivate both rice in wet paddies and a range of dry field crops, from corn to sugar cane and others. Fields are often tilled by contractors who demand highly efficient light-weight and reliable 50-60 hp tractors, to lower costs and maximize their income. The YM series meets these demands in a highly functional and attractive package featuring design by world-renowned designer and Yanmar Holdings Director and Member of the Board, Ken Okuyama. The all-new YM is a total tractor that can work both rice paddies and dry fields, and can haul loads, and features advanced geolocation functions towards improving the work efficiency and profitability of farmers and operators.

Some of the YM tractor's advanced features include:

SMARTASSIST-Remote

SMARTASSIST-Remote allows users to access vital operational information about their tractors through an intuitive user interface which can even be accessed from a smartphone. Its geolocation features allow the operator to see exactly where their equipment is and how it is working. The technology can also issue warnings when machinery is operating outside preset parameters or if the equipment moves beyond designated boundaries. The result is reduced downtime, greater earnings and peace of mind for farmers. SMARTASSIST-Remote is standard to both the YM351A and the YM357A.

Powerful and Fuel-efficient Engine

Yanmar's YM tractor comes with a powerful and efficient Yanmar direct-injection TNV diesel engine that realizes high power with low fuel consumption and superb durability. The engine incorporates several innovative features that improve performance:

  • Monoplunger fuel injection pump atomizes fuel at high pressure
  • Unique combustion chamber shape for improved combustion

Optimum Gear Selection for Work

Gear ratios are matched to work speed for best performance with 8 forward and 8 reverse gears. Gear ratios widely overlap all speed ranges to deliver the best torque for the work speed, using less fuel and contributing to owner profit. A full-synchromesh gearbox ensures smooth changes, even while working.

Versatile Workload

The YM is great on dry fields or paddies and can also haul loads. Great ground clearance is the key to powering on in muddy conditions or passing over crops without damaging them, while a maximum turning angle of 55º gives a turning circle that is the envy of its class. The YM can perform a wide range of work and boasts a specially mated newly-designed rotary tiller that limits soil traveling into the rotary for reduced power loss. Implements available at launch include those for sugarcane and corn.

Ergonomic Comfort

With a flat deck and deluxe suspension seating, the YM is comfortable and easy to operate. Operators can stop or start PTO operation with one touch of a button.
