Application Requirements

Contest Outline

The “HANASAKA MURAL” is located at the northwest entrance of YODOKO Sakura Stadium in Nagai Park, Osaka.
The concept is “Let's enjoy art more!” The wall is 16 meters wide and 3.5 meters high, and is dedicated to MURAL (mural painting).
The HANASAKA MURAL ART CONTEST will call for artwork to be drawn on this wall.
We are looking forward to seeing your wonderful artwork that will bring joy to people on the street.

Entry Period

Entries must be received between February 25, 2023 (Sat) and April 16, 2023 (Sun) at 23:59.

Eligibility

  • Applicants who have agreed to this Application Requirements and the following Application Terms and Conditions.
  • * The above conditions were changed on March 24, 2023.
  • Pro-am status is not considered. However, applicants must be able to reproduce the winning entry on an actual wall (HANASAKA MURAL) during the preparation period specified below.
  • * If the applicant is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian or other legal representative must agree to his/her participation in this contest and to this Application Requirements and the following Application Terms and Conditions.
  • * In the case of a group entry, all members of the group must agree to this Application Requirements and the following Application Terms and Conditions.
  • Individuals and groups are both welcome to apply.

How to Enter

After agreeing to this Application Requirements and the following Application Terms and Conditions, please send your application to brand_yhd@yanmar.com with the required information below.

  • Please attach the data of the artwork you intend to draw for the HANASAKA MURAL.
    Theme of the submitted artwork: The theme should be "HANASAKA," Yanmar's values that believe in the potential of people and encourage them to take on challenges.
    • The aspect ratio of the artwork should be 3.5 (height) : 16 (width) (the aspect ratio of the actual MURAL)
    • File format: jpeg, jpg, png, gif, heic, tiff
    • File size: 10 MB or less
    • Resolution: 150 pixel/inch or more recommended
    • Please attach a representative's portfolio. (Any format is acceptable. Social media accounts are also acceptable. We will use it as one of the criteria to determine if you can draw on the big wall)

Prizes & Awards

Gold Prize 1 winner (1 organization), Prize money: 500,000 yen

(1) Right to use the HANASAKA MURAL space

The winner will have their artwork painted on a huge mural at the northwest entrance of YODOKO SAKURA Stadium in Nagai Park, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture.

Preparation period: May 24, 2023 - June 9, 2023 (Please note that there may be days when production work cannot be done due to stadium usage. Your understanding will be appreciated.)

  • * The cost of transportation, accommodation, art materials, etc. related to the production will be reimbursed at the actual cost. (Up to 200,000 yen)
  • * The ownership of the mural (i.e. the finished work on HANASAKA MURAL) shall belong to Cerezo Osaka Sports Club, the administrator of the HANASAKA MURAL, and the prize money shall include the price for the ownership of the mural.
  • * The process of creating the mural and the finished work will be filmed. Videos and images containing the portraits of the winners may be used in publicity activities of the HANASAKA MURAL, YODOKO SAKURA Stadium, Yanmar, Cerezo Osaka Sports Club, WALL SHARE Inc. and each of them, and may appear in various media. Please apply only if you agree to these terms.
(2) HANASAKA MURAL -VIRTUAL- Virtual Exhibition

The winning entries will be exhibited in HANASAKA MURAL -VIRTUAL-, a metaverse space operated by Yanmar.

Awards Announcement

After the application deadline, we will contact the Gold and Silver Prize winners by April 26, 2023 after a rigorous selection process. We will send an e-mail to the e-mail address you submitted to inform you about each prize. Please make sure that you have set up your e-mail address to receive e-mail from the yanmar.com domain. We will send the emails to the email address of the entrants after the contest application period is over.

Entries and awards will not be considered valid in the following cases.

  • If the address of the prize winner is unknown
  • If the procedural documents for award winners are disclosed to others

Please note that we will not be able to respond to any inquiries regarding the judging process.

Terms and Conditions

Please apply for this contest after agreeing to the Application Requirements above and the following Application Terms and Conditions. By submitting your entry to this contest, you agree to be bound by the Application Requirements and this Application Terms and Conditions, and the Application Requirements and this Application Terms and Conditions are the agreement between the applicant (In the case of a group entry, all members of the group) and Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd.(“Yanmar”).

Artwork entries

Entries must meet the following requirements

  • Must be the original work of the applicant
    Entries must not be collaborations with works for which copyright or other legal rights are held by other parties.
  • Works that have not been published
  • No identical or similar work exists
  • Works that are not likely to offend public order and morals or other legal provisions
  • Entries that are not likely to infringe on the intellectual property rights, honorary rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights of third parties
  • Works that have not been submitted twice to other design competitions, etc.
  • * If a work does not meet the above requirements, the award may be revoked even after the announcement of the award results. Yanmar will not be responsible or liable for any disputes arising out of or in connection with the failure to meet the above requirements, which shall be the responsibility and liability of the applicant.

Rights to the works

  1. All rights to the submitted works (including award-winning works. The same shall apply hereinafter) shall belong to the entrant.
    The applicant agrees that the ownership of the mural (i.e. the finished work on HANASAKA MURAL) to be created upon receipt of the Gold Prize shall belong to Cerezo Osaka Sports Club (“Cerezo”), the designated manager of the HANASAKA MURAL.
  2. The applicant shall grant Yanmar the right to alter or modify the submitted work to the extent necessary for its use of the submitted work, and the applicant agrees not to exercise moral rights with respect to such alteration or modification.
  3. The applicant shall notify Yanmar in writing of any transfer of copyright at least ten (10) days prior to such transfer.
  4. The applicant grants to Yanmar, WALL SHARE Inc. and Cerezo the right to use the submitted work as set forth below. Whether to publicize the entries, and if so, when and where, shall be left entirely up to Yanmar and WALL SHARE Inc.
    1. Yanmar's (including its group companies') publicity activities (posting of entries (submitted work) on its website and SNS, etc.)
    2. WALL SHARE Inc.'s publicity activities (posting of entries (submitted work) on its website, SNS, etc.)
  5. The applicant grants Yanmar and Cerezo the right to use the winning entry (finished work) (including the description) in the following ways, in addition to those stipulated in the preceding paragraph.
    1. Public transmission of the work, including introduction of the award-winning works and the judging process (sketches), etc. on websites, SNS, and online video sharing platforms (YouTube, etc.)
    2. Public transmission of the work, including publication and exhibition of the work in a virtual space
    3. (For Gold Prize winners) Reproduction and processing of the mural into high-definition digital images, exhibition of reproductions at Yanmar’s facilities, and collaborative activities between the mural and the Cerezo’s soccer club team (media filming, publication, broadcast, etc.)

Photography/Media coverage

  1. The applicant agrees that if awarded, the video and images containing his/her portrait may be used in publicity activities for the HANASAKA MURAL, YODOKO Sakura Stadium, Yanmar and Cerezo, respectively, and may be published in various media.
  2. The applicant agrees that the process of creating the award-winning work (including the mural) and the finished work may be photographed.

Cautionary notes

  1. All communication fees (including internet connection fees, terminal fees, telecommunication costs, electricity costs, and any other costs incurred in entering or contacting the contest) are the sole responsibility of the applicant.
  2. Yanmar will not be responsible and liable for any situation in which the applicant is unable to log in to the social media service due to maintenance, malfunction or defects in the communications equipment, communications lines or services provided by the social media service, or if the applicant is unable to enter the contest due to such circumstances.
  3. Yanmar reserves the right to rescind the prize if the prize winner does not provide the required information to Yanmar, or if Yanmar deems the contact information provided by the prize winner to be inappropriate ( for example, if Yanmar is unable to contact the prize winner).
  4. The right to enter this contest, or the right to receive a prize, may not be transferred, otherwise disposed of, or loaned to a third party.
  5. Yanmar disclaims liability for any damage incurred as a result of entering or failing to enter this contest, except by reason attributable to Yanmar.
  6. This contest may be suspended, modified or discontinued without prior notice to entrants. Yanmar disclaims liability for any damage caused by such suspension, change or discontinuation.
  7. In the event that an applicant violates any of this Application Terms and Conditions or violates any applicable laws or regulations, Yanmar may, without prior notice to the applicant, invalidate the applicant's application or cancel the award, even after the announcement of the award results, or take any other action. Furthermore, any dispute between the applicant and any third party arising out of or in connection with such violation shall be the responsibility of the applicant to resolve, and Yanmar shall not be liable for any such dispute.
  8. This contest, the Application Requirements and this Application Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this contest, the Application Requirements and this Application Terms and Conditions shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Osaka District Court as the court of first instance.
  9. Any work painted on the HANASAKA MURAL by the winner(s) of the Gold Prize will be painted over and become a separate work of art at any given time, based on the concept of the wall.

Personal Information

Personal information provided by applicants and winners will be used jointly for the purpose of judging and announcing contest results, publicity activities related to the contest, publicity activities of Yanmar (posting on websites, social media, etc.), publicity activities of WALL SHARE Inc. and Cerezo (posting on website, SNS, etc.), and publicity activities of YODOKO Sakura Stadium (owned by Osaka City) (posting on website, social media, etc.). The administrator of joint use of personal information shall be the President of Yanmar. The personal information, processed in a manner that no specific individual can be identified, will also be used as statistical data for service improvement.
For any matter regarding the processing of personal information that is not covered by the conditions above, the following privacy policy applies.
