As our Sales Engineer, you will be an essential part of the Commercial Marine Department, driving sales growth, managing key projects, building strong customer relationships, and preparing budget quotations for our products and solutions.

As a Sales Engineer, you play a key role in driving sales by translating customer requirements into technical solutions. You are involved throughout the sales process from lead development to proposal creation and contracting. Ensuring that each solution is both technically sound and commercially competitive.

You work closely with Application Engineering, Service, Operations, and our production teams, acting as the link between customer needs and internal execution. In this international role, you contribute directly to business growth while building strong, long-term customer relationships.

  • Develop and qualify sales opportunities, supporting the conversion of leads into orders
  • Translate customer requirements into technical solutions
  • Prepare and present technical proposals and  commercial quotations
  • Explain complex solutions in a clear, commercial and customer-focused way
  • Support contract discussions within defined commercial frameworks
  • Coordinate with internal teams and Yanmar production (YPS) to ensure feasibility and alignment
  • Contribute to smooth handover from sales to production, ensuring complete and accurate information
  • Align with Application engineering, Service, Spare Parts, and Operations to deliver a full lifecycle customer solution
  • Support product launches, exhibitions, and regional commercial activities
  • Conduct customer visits and technical presentations
  • Monitor market developments, customer feedback, and competitive insight

You are a technically skilled professional with a commercial mindset. You enjoy working closely with customers, understanding their challenges, and translating these into practical and effective solutions.

You thrive in an international environment where collaboration, adaptability, and clear communication are key.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, Industrial Engineering, or similar;
  • 5–8 years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or application engineering;
  • Marine experience is beneficial;
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear commercial value;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across multiple functions;
  • Experience working in an international, cross-functional environment;
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30%;
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with CRM/ERP systems is a plus
  • Fluent in English; additional languages such as Dutch are an advantage

Applicants must currently reside in the Netherlands and possess eligibility to work in the country, including having a valid work permit or passport.

The position is based in Almere, the Netherlands with international collaboration across regions and time zones.
