What are you going to do?
As our next Application Support Engineer in the Benelux area, you will provide technical expertise and hands-on support to Yanmar’s OEM customers and boatbuilders in line with YMI Global Service Policy for the Benelux area.
You will be key in evaluating and verifying new installations, performing on-site and in-house diagnostics, and delivering timely solutions for new and existing engine installations.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Provide on-site technical assistance to boatbuilders by assessing installation requirements, offering advice, and documenting findings in the appropriate systems;
- Maintain ongoing communication with Yanmar colleagues in the Benelux sales office regarding customer inquiries, technical support, warranty issues, and non-conformities;
- Collaborate with support staff at YMI to facilitate after-sales, quality assurance, and engineering activities;
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues in the field, ensuring efficient and accurate solutions;
- Analyse root causes of failures by inspecting engine installations and communicating findings to after-sales, sales, and quality teams for corrective action, while suggesting operational improvements.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal Application Support Engineer has a strong background in field technical support and experience with engines, preferably in the marine or engine manufacturing industry. You are skilled in electronic diagnostics and comfortable working with diagnostic tools and office software. You thrive in customer-facing environments and can manage diverse technical challenges professionally and precisely.
The ideal candidate:
- MBO-3 by education or equivalent experience;
- 3 to 5 years of experience in field technical support, preferably in the marine or engine manufacturing industry;
- High level of electronic diagnostic knowledge;
- Proficient in using electronic diagnostic tools for engines and MS Office programs;
- Strong communication skills, fluent in Dutch and English; other European languages are an advantage.
Applicants must currently reside in the Netherlands and possess eligibility to work in the country, including having a valid work permit or passport.
Work location:
Your regular workplace is Almere, the Netherlands, but you are expected to be willing to travel to customer sites throughout Europe when necessary.
