Within Yanmar Marine International’s Corporate Strategy department, you will play a key role in ensuring that Yanmar Marine International and other entities within Yanmar’s Marine Recreational Business Unit comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements. As the organisation continues to grow internationally, this role supports the development of robust governance frameworks, compliance programs, and risk management practices that enable sustainable business growth.

As our Corporate Governance & Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining governance and compliance processes across Yanmar Marine International and selected international group entities.

You will work closely with senior management, legal teams, finance leaders, and colleagues in Japan to ensure regulatory compliance, minimise business risk, and strengthen governance across the organisation.

Governance

  • Develop and maintain decision-making and authorisation policies to strengthen corporate governance;
  • Support governance initiatives and implement new governance processes across the organisation;
  • Ensure governance policies are understood and applied by departments and international group companies;
  • Maintain registrations and governance documentation related to the Board of Directors;
  • Contribute to aligning governance practices with broader Yanmar Group requirements and standards.

Compliance & Export Control

  • Develop, maintain, and operate Yanmar Marine International’s export control framework;
  • Ensure adherence to export control regulations and internal compliance policies;
  • Coordinate and support the Export Control Committee and monitor geopolitical and regulatory developments;
  • Develop and maintain contract management processes to minimise legal and contractual risks;
  • Investigate compliance concerns and implement corrective actions where required;
  • Plan and deliver compliance-related training programs in collaboration with legal stakeholders;
  • Support compliance with environmental regulations and reporting requirements, including CSRD initiatives.

Risk Management

  • Monitor organisational activities to identify governance, compliance, and operational risks;
  • Advise management on risk mitigation measures and improvement opportunities;
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders on internal and external audits;
  • Support ISO audits and compliance assessments;
  • Report findings and recommendations to senior management where required.

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Support

  • Drive the modernisation of governance, compliance, and risk management processes;
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through digital tools, automation, and AI solutions;
  • Support cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives within Corporate Strategy;
  • Stay informed about new regulatory developments and industry best practices;
  • Provide support to the Senior Manager Corporate Strategy and the senior leadership team as needed.

The ideal Corporate Governance & Compliance Specialist is proactive, analytical, and comfortable working with complex regulations, contracts, and corporate policies. You are naturally curious, enjoy navigating legal and compliance-related topics, and can translate complex requirements into practical business solutions. You build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation and enjoy collaborating with international stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in governance, compliance, risk management, legal operations, or a related field.
  • Experience with export control regulations & contract management is a strong advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work with senior leaders across the business.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations, legal documents, and agreements.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Proactive, self-starting mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong affinity with digital tools, automation, and AI-driven process improvements.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Affinity with the marine industry is considered a plus.

This position is based in Almere, the Netherlands, with a hybrid working model of three days in the office and two days working from home.

You will join a highly visible role within the Corporate Strategy team, where you will work on governance, compliance, and risk management topics that directly impact the organisation’s future development. You will collaborate with stakeholders across Europe and Japan and help build a strong, compliant foundation for Yanmar’s continued growth.
