Within our Advanced Marine Division, we combine engineering excellence with a strong focus on commercialisation and long-term business value. To support this ambition, we are strengthening our project team with a Project Engineer who can bridge technical development and structured project execution.
What are you going to do?
As our Project Engineer, you will support the development and implementation of innovative hydrofoiling technologies. You will translate engineering concepts into structured project plans, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, project milestones, and commercialisation goals. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will help drive projects from early concept through validation and towards market readiness.
You will coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, finance and other internal functions, while also collaborating with external technology partners. Your role combines technical insight with project management discipline to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
You will contribute to governance, risk management, and financial planning activities, ensuring transparency, compliance, and effective decision-making. Through clear reporting and stakeholder communication, you will support alignment across international and cross-cultural teams, including Japanese headquarters and global partners.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Support planning and execution of hydrofoiling technology projects
- Align scope, timelines, resources and budgets with corporate objectives
- Coordinate cross functional activities to achieve project milestones
- Support prototype development from proof of concept through validation
- Ensure technical feasibility and support transition to commercialisation
- Apply project governance principles, including stage gates and change control
- Contribute to IP, contractual and compliance-related processes
- Support preparation and monitoring of project business and financial plans
- Track budgets, expenditures, and provide accurate forecasts
- Identify and mitigate technical, schedule and supplier risks
- Prepare clear project reports and executive-level presentations
- Facilitate communication across international and cross-cultural teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external technology partners
Who are we looking for?
The ideal Project Engineer combines strong engineering fundamentals with proven project management experience. You are structured, analytical and comfortable working in complex, international project environments. You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and cultures and are motivated by turning innovative technology into commercially viable solutions.
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
- At least five years of relevant experience in project-based engineering environments
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in product development
- Knowledge of the marine industry is an advantage
- Experience working within a Japanese company is a plus
- Fluency in English; other languages are an advantage
- Basic understanding of accounting and business planning
- Proficiency with project and collaboration tools such as MS Project, Excel, Jira
- Strong ability to structure schedules, risks, reporting and dashboards
Applicants must currently reside in the Netherlands and be eligible to work in the country, including having a valid work permit or a valid passport.
