Eberhard is modernising its fleet and investing in eight new YANMAR excavators between three and ten tonnes in 2025 – including two latest-generation SV100s. More are to follow.

What a signal this sends: Swiss construction and demolition giant Eberhard is going all out this year and making one of the largest fleet investments in the company's history. In addition to the eight Yanmar excavators, 24 new trucks will be purchased.

‘This sets the course for our future,’ says Patrick Eberhard, third-generation managing director at Eberhard Unternehmungen. ‘Our aim is to always be at the cutting edge of technology. Excavators and trucks are our most important tools – the better our equipment, the more efficiently we can work for our customers,’ he continues.

All construction machinery is replaced with new models after a maximum of 10,000 operating hours – equivalent to around 6 to 8 years. Two more YANMAR SV100s are planned for this year, and in the medium term, Eberhard is also considering the use of electric-powered machines. However, these will first be put through their paces before being added to the fleet.

Speaking of convincing quality

In daily use, the compact and powerful YANMAR machines have proven to be reliable partners on every construction site. They are particularly appreciated by the machine operators themselves, who work with them every day.

‘What matters to us is how a machine really feels – and that's where YANMAR makes the difference,’ says operator Andrin Matthis. ‘The SV100 is our absolute favourite machine: powerful hydraulics, sensitive controls and remarkably quiet operation. It makes work fun.’

The clear layout of the cab, intuitive operation and high level of driving comfort contribute to the excavators being not only efficient but also pleasant to operate – even on long working days. All models are also equipped with air conditioning, which further improves working conditions.
Everything is just right behind the scenes too: Eberhard has a strong partner at its side in the form of dealer RUBAG.

‘A decision we have not regretted to this day,’ says Björn Reiser, Head of Service and Construction Machinery. ‘RUBAG not only supplies top-quality machines, but also first-class service – with a maximum response time of 24 hours and a large spare parts warehouse located nearby. This allows us to reduce downtime to a minimum.’

A strong team player since the 1980s

The first YANMAR excavator was used by Eberhard in 1981 during the demolition of an old shoe factory – a YB25L. Where other heavy equipment failed, the YB25L – equipped with a demolition hammer – mastered the higher lift demolition with flying colours. From then on, the YANMAR family grew steadily. The machines became indispensable in excavation pits with struts, retaining walls or when installing lean concrete layers. Drainage pipes for road and land improvement works soon became part of their range of applications.

Today, Eberhard Bau AG has a total of 19 YANMAR excavators ranging from 1.5 to 10 tonnes in use – each perfectly matched to its area of application.
The compact 1.8-tonne models (ViO17) are used wherever space is limited – for example, in demolition work inside buildings. With their high manoeuvrability and precision, they are ideal for gutting work and fine dismantling in confined spaces.

One size larger, but just as versatile, are the 3.5-tonne excavators. Depending on the size of the demolition site, they perform similar tasks, but are also frequently used in construction pits – for example, for excavating recesses or backfilling buildings.
The 5-tonne models are the workhorses in classic earthworks, backfilling and demolition. Equipped with quick couplers, they serve as carrier devices for attachments and thus perfectly complement the 3.5-tonne class – same working method, more power.
At the top of the range is the 10-tonne SV100 excavator. It is the exception in demolition and is mainly used where maximum hydraulic power is required: when using shears, milling machines, sorting grapples or demolition hammers. Its power and stability make it an indispensable machine for particularly demanding tasks.

Conclusion: Eberhard is shaping the future. With YANMAR.
With the continuous modernisation of its machinery, Eberhard is sending a clear message: innovation, efficiency and quality remain the driving forces behind the company. YANMAR excavators impress not only with their performance and comfort, but also with their reliability in daily use – and symbolise the company's commitment to moving full steam ahead into the future.
