Cerezo Osaka plays in J League division 1, which is the top tier of Japan professional football league.
The team originated from the Yanmar Diesel Soccer Club which started as a sport activity within the company in 1957.

Many great footballers played for Cerezo Osaka including Shinji KAGAWA (PAOK, Greece), Takashi INUI (Eibar, Spain), and Takumi MINAMINO (Southampton, England) who has played in youth team, Cerezo Osaka Academy. They tried for tough leagues and renowned all over the world.
