“YANMAR DESIGN – Vision of Tomorrow – OSAKA”
This exhibition highlights the evolution of Yanmar’s design initiatives while presenting the “Vision of Tomorrow” envisioned by the Yanmar Design Division. Following last year’s inaugural showcase in Tokyo, the second edition will take place in Osaka—Yanmar’s home city—where visitors can explore the company’s manufacturing spirit rooted in its founding and the design-driven transformation that began in 2012.
Alongside the latest engines and concept tractors, the exhibition also features design work that is typically not accessible to the public, offering a look into the behind-the-scenes processes of Yanmar’s in-house design team and the diverse outcomes they have created across various fields.

On the opening day of the exhibition, we will host a special talk session featuring Kashiwa Sato, Creative Director who has led Yanmar’s branding since 2012, and Yotaro Tsuchiya, Head of the Yanmar Design Division.
They will discuss the background behind Yanmar’s expanded commitment to design, the ideas behind “YANMAR DESIGN – Vision of Tomorrow – OSAKA,” and how Yanmar’s approach to design has evolved—and will continue to evolve—toward the future.

Since its founding in 1912, Yanmar has supported industry and daily life with diesel engine technology at its core. From this long history emerged the company’s purpose, “A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.” The Yanmar Design Division carries this aspiration forward, aiming to shape a sustainable and enriching future through the power of design.
Following the company’s 100th anniversary in 2012 and a renewed focus on branding, Yanmar established its first in-house design team in 2015. Since then, the team has expanded its role beyond the functionality and appearance of products, working across branding, user experience, spatial design, and communication.
In 2023, the division introduced the design direction “Gentleness and Toughness”—inheriting our founder’s spirit of design that, while gentle and friendly to people, stands firmly in the face of challenges.
This exhibition presents not only the work of Yanmar’s design team but also a maker’s spirit handed down since the company’s early years, the evolution of its brand and design, and the vision for the future. We invite visitors to explore the multifaceted relationship between Yanmar and design, and to catch a glimpse of the “Vision of Tomorrow” that Yanmar is striving to create.
Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. – Design Division
In conjunction with “YANMAR DESIGN – Vision of Tomorrow – OSAKA,” a satellite exhibition will be held on the first floor of the Yanmar Holdings headquarters.
The display features a Yanmar-customized tractor, created as part of a new initiative to explore future possibilities in agricultural machinery.
By presenting variations in color, specifications, and usage-specific styles, the exhibition proposes a new approach to tractor design—showing the tractor not merely as a work tool, but as a reliable partner in the field that reflects the individuality of its user.
Together with the future-oriented concepts presented at “YANMAR DESIGN – Vision of Tomorrow – OSAKA,” this satellite exhibition brings visitors closer to the agricultural field and highlights Yanmar’s ongoing design-driven challenges.
