Zurich, 19.04.2021 - The machines from Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA (Yanmar) convince in all aspects - this was impressively demonstrated in an extensive performance comparison. A year ago, Eberhard Bau AG (Eberhard) decided to replace older machines with crawler excavators that are up to date with the latest technology. More robust and environmentally friendly construction machines should be used on the company’s demanding construction sites throughout Switzerland. Therefore, the company evaluated compact machines from various manufacturers in a test procedure. The result: Eberhard purchased ten compact crawler excavators from Yanmar dealer RUBAG Rollmaterial und Baumaschinen AG (RUBAG) - Yanmar convinces with performance and quality, the Yanmar dealer RUBAG with first-class advice & services.

For more than 65 years, Eberhard has been a specialist in civil engineering, demolition, remediation of contaminated sites and recycling of construction materials. The machines used by Eberhard must be convincing in all these areas of application. When searching for new machines, the construction company first determined which ones came into question based on various parameters - including dimensions and engine power. The four manufacturers that best met Eberhard’s requirements were invited to the company's own gravel plant. Here, the machines' performance, flexibility and equipment were tested in a two-day process. Yanmar dealer RUBAG brought the SV100-2PB and the ViO57 crawler excavators into the race.

On day 1, Eberhard's construction machine operators tested the machines' suitability in practical use. Among other things, all excavators were placed next to each other, and, while moving a concrete element, it was determined which excavator had the largest lateral overhang. In addition, test grading work was carried out and steep slope angles were approached to test the power of the undercarriage. Various criteria were also evaluated to determine performance, ease of operation and ease of maintenance using score sheets. Scores were assigned for: control layout, comfort/space, power force, lift and breakout force, travel, slewing, quality of workmanship, machine design, hydraulics, piping, arrangements and accessibility for daily maintenance.

On day 2, tests by the workshop personnel followed. They checked the machines with regards to service ability. In detail, this concerned the routing and material of the hose systems, the accessibility of the service components, the ability to replace the hydraulics, the complexity of the electronics as well as the arrangement of the hydraulic components. Here, too, the test results were recorded and evaluated using evaluation sheets.

The result is clear: Yanmar machines are the test winners and convince with the best marks. Yanmar machines are best suited to meet Eberhard's demanding requirements.

The Japanese manufacturer’s machines impress with their design, good stability and simple operation. In addition, the SV100-2PB scores particularly with power and sensitivity, good grading capability, fine control and powerful slewing motor. The ViO57-6B stands out for its sensitive hydraulic system, and also for its compactness, slim and dashing design and high driving comfort. "For us, the needs of our customers are always in the focus. We have completely individually configured the machines for Eberhard. They are fully equipped and thus optimally tailored to all the company's requirements," says Nicolas Sameli, management at RUBAG Rollmaterial und Baumaschinen AG. "The Yanmar machines convinced us with their performance and ease of use," explains Silvan Eberhard, Head of Logistics at Eberhard-Unternehmungen, adding "In addition, we feel that RUBAG provides us with the best possible support. RUBAG is active throughout Switzerland - just like us. So, we get first-class service at all locations." As a result of the selection process, Eberhard bought a total of ten compact crawler excavators of the types SV100-2PB with articulated boom, ViO38-6B and ViO57-6B as well as various attachments and numerous spare parts for its own workshop. The Yanmar dealer also equipped the machines according to requirements for even more flexibility in use: a lift and slew limit enables work in the tightest of spaces; quick couplers allow attachments to be changed quickly and easily. This enables the machines to perform a wide variety of tasks on construction sites. For the particular environment-friendly use, the machines are equipped with bio-oil (Panolin HLP Synth. 46) and diesel particulate filters or EU Stage V engines as well as air conditioning systems and auxiliary lighting.
