Technologies for the future

The development of Yanmar products begins with “technology research” at our Research and Development Center in Maibara, Japan.
Thinking in the mid- to long-term, we are working on various research topics related to energy and its applications, in order to solve issues faced by our customers and provide value above and beyond expectations.
The technology developed at our R&D center is handed over to our product development division.

Global R&D centers

We have several R&D centers located around the globe. These include our Research and Development Center in Maibara, which is at the forefront of our engine and electronic control research, and our development of next-generation cutting-edge technologies.
In Malaysia, we have our Kota Kinabalu R&D Center, which carries out research into new energy utilization, and provides 24-hour continuous durability testing facilities.
Yanmar R&D Europe is located in Italy, and focuses on the development of energy network technology using renewable energy, and research into advanced robotic engineering.

Through the work of our Development Division, we incorporate to our products the technology established during technology research. We bring our customers on-board during the product planning phase, allowing us to reflect customer requirements in the product design. By conducting preliminary and verification testing in actual vessels from the prototyping phase, we are able to build-in a high degree of quality from the initial stages of development.

To ensure reliability and durability over the long-term, we conduct repeated verification tests using computerized numerical analysis models and actual engines and incorporate requests from our customers in order to optimize our designs.
