Yanmar Acquires Emission Regulation Certification for 6AYE and EY26W Series Diesel Engines in China

Osaka Japan (August 27th, 2019) - In response to new Chinese emission regulations (CHINA Ⅰ and Ⅱ) applicable to ship engines and introduced*1 in July 2019, Yanmar Co., Ltd, has become the first*2 Japanese manufacturer in China to acquire certification with its 6AYE and EY26W Series diesel engines. Yanmar plans to begin shipment of CHINA Ⅰ and Ⅱ compliant engines from September of this year.

Yanmar will continue to work towards acquiring emission regulation certification in each shipment destination country, and in doing so contribute to marine environmental protection.

Outline of CHINA Ⅰ and Ⅱ emission regulations for ship engines

The emission regulations apply to main propulsion and auxiliary engines (including compression ignition engines, spark ignition gas engines, and dual-fuel engines), with a rated output of 37kW or more and a displacement per cylinder of less than 30L, and which are installed in inland ships*3, coastal ships*4, Jianghai ships*5, and ferries*6. CHINA Ⅰ came into effect in July 2019. CHINA Ⅱ will come into effect from July 2022.
