Yanmar America Corporation Joins Diesel Technology Forum

The company that developed the world’s first commercially viable small diesel engine more than 75 years ago – Yanmar Co. Ltd. - is the newest member of the Diesel Technology Forum (DTF), a non-profit organization that promotes the use of the most modern clean diesel technologies in the United States.

Yanmar, which is celebrating its 100th year anniversary this year, manufactures diesel engines for industrial, generator and pump as well as marine applications. Yanmar also manufactures its own construction equipment and utility tractors serving the agriculture and construction- related markets.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Yanmar to the Diesel Technology Forum,” said Allen Schaeffer, the Executive Director of the Forum.  “Yanmar has a strong tradition and history in the diesel industry and develops some of the world’s most energy efficient and economic engines.  Yanmar’s engines can be found working in all corners of the world-on land and at sea.

“Yanmar’s impressive advances in new, emerging technologies, all based on their state-of-the-art diesel engines, are a perfect fit with the Forum’s work in promoting the newest, clean diesel technologies in all modes of surface transportation, agriculture, construction and power generation.”

“Yanmar is proud to be a member of the Diesel Technology Forum and excited to work together in the advancement of clean diesel technology.  Yanmar’s founder said “to conserve fuel is to serve mankind” and by partnering with DTF to increase public knowledge of the new, fuel-efficient diesel technologies in the marketplace, we are helping to further support clean diesel products for the future.  We look forward to promoting the economic and environmental benefits in using clean diesel technology and products,” said Ted Bregar, President of Yanmar America.

The members of the Diesel Technology Forum are leaders of the diesel industry and include a diverse membership of OEMs, suppliers, fuel refiners and device manufacturers who are leading the fight for clean diesel technology.  See the other leaders in clean diesel technology here.
