Yanmar to Use Rice from Earthquake-affected Fukushima in Its Cafeterias
May 31, 2011
Yanmar Co., Ltd.
Yanmar has announced that it will start using rice cultivated in Fukushima, one of the regions affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, in its office and factory cafeterias.
This is part of Yanmar’s determined efforts to support the local communities towards a timely recovery. During the devastating earthquake, a large number of enterprises in the food and agricultural industries suffered severe damage, while the nuclear crisis at the Fukushima plant caused a sense of wariness among consumers at large regarding agricultural produce from the nearby areas.
In order to actively contribute to the rehabilitation of local businesses, Yanmar is working in close collaboration with authorities and, from June 1, 2011, will start using rice produced in the said areas in its office and factory cafeterias throughout Japan.
We would like to thank each and every member of the Yanmar Group and the Yanmar family worldwide for the continued support of those affected by this tragedy.
