Participating in a charity to improve the learning environment for children in Shandong
In September 2020, Yanmar Engine Shandong (YSD) participated in the "Hope Room" children's charity campaign organized by the Shandong Provincial Youth Development Foundation. This activity uses local houses to create safe learning and living for children away from home, Hope Rooms to improve the learning environment for underprivileged children between the ages of 8 and 14.
From June 2020 to date, the project has been implemented in 16 cities in Shandong with the participation of enterprises and people from all walks of life, raising a total of CNY 140 million in funds, and 10,092 Hope Rooms have been built. YSD donated CNY 24,000, the construction cost of two locations, to the city of Lianhe and received the naming rights for them.
Donating books to elementary schools
On November 19, 2020, we donated 600 books that are worth about CNY 20,000to Qingdao Export Processing Zone Experimental Primary School. With these books, we hope that the children will learn about the warmth of the local community and develop good reading habits.
Providing mental health training to employees
From September to November 2020, we conducted psychometric measurements and provided training on mental health, how to control emotions, and how to relieve stress to 29 managers. We hope that with the knowledge earned through this training, employees will be able to work more actively.
CPR, first aid and AED training
YSD is equipped with relief supplies such as rescue protective gear, air respirators, stretchers, wheelchairs, and AEDs. A CPR first aid and AED training was held in September 2020. 343 employees participated in the training, and 187 actually practiced the operation, learning how to wear protective gear, and how to use rescue ropes, air respirators, and AEDs.
Study Group Held for Information Management of Hazardous Wastes
In June 2020, representatives from eight companies in Gaoxin District that generate more than 100 tons of hazardous waste per year, four people from the Qingdao District Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and one Qingdao City information technology expert gathered at YSD to hold a study group for constructing informatizational relations. We examined the possibility of creating an overall supervision system that allows for localization, investigation, follow-up, prediction, and review by converting amount of waste into data.
The representatives of the participating companies shared their experiences in hazardous waste management and explained the progress and challenges in building a hazardous waste information system. YSD has completed filling out the management plan in the government system and the monthly reported rate for hazardous waste is 100%.
Participating in a tug-of-war tournament organized by Qingdao Free Trade Port Zone
A team of 10 YSD employees participated in a tug-of-war tournament held on May 4, 2021, Chinese Youth Day. A total of 12 companies participated, and YSD came in second place. We had a great time outside the office with people who work in the same region.
Attended the kick-off ceremony of Children's Day and Sports and Arts Festival at a local elementary school in Qingdao Export Processing Zone
In June 2021, we attended the kick-off ceremony for the Children's Day and Sports and Arts Festival at the Experimental Primary School in Qingdao to deepen the interactions with people from various sectors of the community and exchanged opinions with them.
