Yanmar Concludes Sales Agreement with 2G to Promote Decarbonization

March 30, 2021, Osaka, Japan - Yanmar Energy System Co., Ltd., (YES) a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings has signed an agreement with 2G Energietechnik GmbH (2G) a subsidiary of 2G Energy AG for the sale of 2G's gas cogeneration systems towards decarbonization efforts of Yanmar.
Recent years have seen the growing importance of establishing a diverse power supply structure incorporating the use of distributed energy and renewable energy. Yanmar has been a leading proponent of the use of biogas power generation in Japan with a focus on local production and local consumption of energy. In March 2021, Yanmar established the Carbon Neutral Business Promotion Office in Japan and Germany, focusing on the early commercialization of new fuels such as hydrogen with the aim of achieving decarbonization in Japan and abroad.
Yanmar has recently signed a contract with 2G, a German company that is a pioneer in natural gas and biogas cogeneration systems and has commercialized a 100% hydrogen engine, in order to distribute its products in Japan, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. This agreement will enable the company to sell 2G's cogeneration systems in the 20-2500kW output range within Japan and overseas.
Yanmar will continue to propose a wide range of comprehensive solutions to customers, expand our global partnership with 2G, and contribute to the advancement of environmentally friendly systems.
