New High-Powered Industrial Engine 4TN107 Certification Acquired for EU Stage V Emission Standards

Osaka, Japan (April 5, 2019) - This year, Yanmar Co., Ltd will begin mass production of two new high-powered industrial engines - the 4TN107FHT and 4TN107TT. On March 11, these engines acquired certification for the new EU Stage V off-road emission standards, which will come into effect from 2020.
Both of these engines will be exhibited from April 8-14 at BAUMA 2019, an international construction machinery trade fair held in Munich.
Overview of EU Stage V off-road emission standards
- EU Stage V off-road emission standards are new European emission regulations which apply to engines installed in off-road vehicles. The regulations will be phased-in during 2019 and 2020 according to the category (power) of the engine. Under Stage V, diesel engines less than 19kW, which were previously unregulated, will now fall under the scope of the regulations.
- For engines of 19kW and above, the NOx*1 and PM*2 requirements will become stricter, and new PN*3requirements have also been adopted, making Stage V currently the most stringent emission regulations in the world.
- Depending on the engine category, new engine control technology will be required to limit the operation of the engine in the event that failure or unauthorized modification occurs to parts related to the control of emissions during operation in the market.

- ※2PM: Particulate Matter. Refers to suspended particulate matter such as soot, etc.
- ※3PN: Particulate Number. It is a regulation on the number of particles contained within a certain amount of emissions and is separate from the PM regulation which regulates the mass of particulate matter.
