Since the Kansai Open Championship in 1976, the Biwako Country Club, which has a history of 60 years, has been the stage of the highest level of golf and has fought a fierce battle. In 2020, after a major renovation under the supervision of Greg Norman, it has begun to mark a new history in the prestigious.
Japan's first golf course carbon-neutral initiative
Ritto City, Shiga Prefecture, where the Biwako Country Club is located, has almost no chimneys and is an eco-friendly city. Golf is a sport that cannot be achieved without nature, such as grass and trees. In order to enjoy golf in the future, we are making efforts to aim for a golf course that coexists with nature for nature conservation.
We have introduced renewable energy and energy-saving equipment provided by Yanmar, and have started efforts to reduce annual CO2 emissions of 802t (estimated figures based on actual emissions in fiscal 2019) to virtually zero.
Eco-friendly golf course with carbon neutrality
Biwako Country Club has introduced renewable energy and energy saving equipment. Furthermore, it is an environment-friendly and sustainable golf course that achieves zero CO2 emissions through optimal energy control by an energy management system and CO2 reduction by carbon offsetting.
